It is highly recommended that all parish youth minister leaders and their team attend at least one retreat a year, weekly Eucharist (daily if possible), spend at least 30 minutes in adoration before an activity/lesson and go to monthly confession to be more effective in the ministerial roles as youth leaders. The Holy Spirit begins to work in us and transform us as we become less like the world and more like Christ as we continue to proclaim the kerygma. “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-8
Schedule an adult conference and/or retreat where you don't have to take care of the young church. You deserve it! Make time for your own spiritual growth.
Think about it; Our Bishop, Priests and Deacons and even our Confirmation young people have a mandatory yearly retreat. There must be a good reason why!
