The priesthood today means the ability to hear the world crying out for help, the voice of the innocent who are without peace, without leaders, without help and without love."
-Pope Paul VI
SEMINARY BURSE FUND
The Seminary Burse Fund is a permanent fund set aside to provide income for the education of seminarians that the United Catholic Appeal and grants do not cover.
The principal amount of the fund is never spent but invested, with the interest used each year for education expenses of those men studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Amarillo. Since the principal is never touched, this fund is truly a “gift that will give forever.” Donations made to the fund will continue to support our Vocations and Seminarian programs in perpetuity.
Burses are often initiated in honor or memory of a loved one, in the name of especially well-loved priests (there are a number of these types of burses already established) or an organization with any amount. Contributions may be added to any current burse at any time.
Seminary burses are completed when the balance reaches $5,000. Once this goal, which is not a pledge, has been reached, and those who established the original burse wish to continue their donations, a new burse in the same name may be opened.
Help our seminarians bring Christ to the people of God no only by your financial commitment but also by your daily prayers. Share God’s gifts through the support of the present and future seminarians of the Diocese of Amarillo.
