It was a different backdrop for this particular Mass, celebrated on the Vigil of the Feast of the Assumption.
With the beginning of the 2013-14 school year in the Diocese of Amarillo, students at St. Anthony’s School will begin the new year with new technology.
It started as a project to help veterans find low income housing.
It ended with a new duplex for veterans and an honor for the youth group at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Bishop Patrick J. Zurek will dedicate the new St. Anthony’s Parish Life Center at 1401 Scott Ave. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6:00pm. The “new” 6,431 square-foot building will be primarily used for Christian Formation for kindergarten through fifth grade students, but will also serve as a meeting place for Knights of Columbus Council #2776 and for other parish events, according to Monsignor Michael Colwell, pastor at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
The 34-member delegation from the Diocese of Amarillo who participated in World Youth Day returned to the Texas Panhandle July 30.
The delegation left Amarillo July 16, after a sendoff Mass at St. Laurence Church, presided by Bishop Patrick J. Zurek, who joined the delegation in Brazil on July 21.
