Amarillo—It’s a Diocesan Catechetical Event that’s not just for catechists—but for all of us—parents, catechists or Catholics who want to know more about the celebration of the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
Learn more about your Faith through a deeper understanding of the Mass Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9:00am to 12:30pm in the Monsignor Francis A. Smyer Activity Center at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
The theme of the event is Beginning Catechesis Forming the Future. The event will be presented in both English and Spanish.
Father Ryan Winger, parochial vicar at St. Laurence Church, Amarillo, will be the presenter for the English portion. Adrian Johnson, director of the Family Life Office for the Diocese of Amarillo, will present the Message of Pope Francis to Catechists. Father Victor Hugo Andrade, parochial administrator at St. Joseph’s Church, Stratford and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Cactus, will lead the Spanish presentation. School Sister of Notre Dame Sister María Elena Ferrer, coordinator of Faith Formation for the Diocese of Amarillo, will present Mensaje de Papa Francisco a los Catequistas in Spanish.
“We invite everyone to come grow in your Faith and learn to effectively pass it on to the next generation within your parish and your family,” said Sister María Elena. “Unlock the mystery of our Faith (the Mass) and learn to form the next generation within your parish and your family.
“This Catechetical Event is not limited to only catechists, but is open to everyone. We’ll discuss the Sacrifice of the Mass, how it is defined and what it means. Please join us for this opportunity to learn more about our Faith.”
