Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025 and lasts until Holy Thursday, April 17, 2025.
There is no better time to reconnect with or deepen one’s faith than Lent. During this time, we can draw closer to God as we prepare for the joyous celebration of Christ’s resurrection at Easter. Lent can be an incredibly rewarding time for our spiritual lives. Let this guide you through the most meaningful Lent you’ve ever experienced.
-- Pope Francis, Message for Lent 2021 --
“Do you wish your prayer to fly toward God? Make for it two wings: fasting and almsgiving.” – St. Augustine
PRAYER: daily prayer through apps (AMEN app) or daily Mass
"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." -St. Therese of Lisieux
FASTING: Besides giving up (candy, cokes etc.) Consider not eating solid foods all day on Friday during lent.
“When a man begins to fast, he straightway yearns in his mind to enter into converse with God.” – St. Isaac the Syrian
ALMSGIVING: Take count of how much money you have saved from your fasting and donated to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) ( buy some fish, baby goat etc.)
Almsgiving above all else requires money, but even this shines with a brighter luster when the alms are given from our poverty. The widow who paid in the two mites was poorer than any human, but she outdid them all.' - St. John Chrysostom
